We all aspire to be the best that we can be. Better tomorrow than we were yesterday. Achieving more in a years time than we are achieving today.

You’re already working hard and doing great. If you can just improve by 1% every day, using the principle of aggregated marginal gains, that’s a 37x better in a year. Where would you be with that kind of change?

Books are a great place to learn. So much of others peoples’ experience and knowledge have been written down, ready for us to read, learn and improve. They can teach us how to run better businesses, build better teams, be happy at home and at work, be more productive, healthier and more mindful.

We’re often so busy trying to get to where we want to be, we forget to stop, pause, and reflect. We forget that if we don’t change, we’re not improving. And indeed in order to improve, we need to change something. This is especially important when we’re starting out, or when we’re on our way up and creating the life we want. Taking the time to learn is great, and working in a group is even better.

I run a small business with ten staff based in London, UK. I started employing people around 15 years ago and I learnt very quickly that there is a lot I don’t know. Not just about managing people, but also just running a business. I was clueless. I didn’t realise how much I needed to learn. And so I started to read books, I researched and I taught myself. The books I read, and that I still read teach me so much. It takes time, but learning is so important.

Now my business is thriving and I want other people to have the same opportunities as me. But one thing I’ve realised is that I could have learnt more, and I could have learnt more quickly.

The power of communities is enormous. I am a member of a number of communities where I can bounce ideas, check new thoughts and get advice on all kinds of topics to do with business, life and love. Sometimes these communities are made up of friends and sometimes colleagues… sometimes neither or both. Communities allow us to share insights with each other which are often different for different people and different perspectives. Communities allow us to hold each other accountable, and communities make learning fun.

We are bringing together these two things together so that we can help each other become the best versions of ourselves, and to improve a little every day.
